ARTIST STATEMENT
I began learning the art of photography as a child playing with my fathers SLR cameras, and at high school in Brisbane, Australia where I was fortunate enough to learn much more about film cameras and processing in darkrooms. It wasn’t until many years later while living in Europe that I truly fell in love with this art form.
My passion for photography and travel have enabled me to work professionally in a field that I truly love. Whilst alone in nature with my camera, I am truly in my element. This environment is where I am most at peace with myself and the world around us.
My photography over the years has inspired me to continually create visual ways of expressing myself throughout my life adventures.
The genuine comments and messages I have received from friends, family, complete strangers, clients, and collectors worldwide regarding my work have been unbelievably humbling and personally satisfying. When I know I am able to evoke a positive emotional response in another persons being, not only does it create the same in me, but it also reinforces that I have been given a talent and that I should continue improving myself and my work every day.
To me, my work represents how I see the natural and sometimes unnatural world around me in everyday life. When I’m happy and positive, which is a majority of the time, I try to find beauty and colour in all that I shoot. I’m definitely more than capable of creating dark/sad/emotional images, however I try to focus (pardon the pun) my attention on the former option for obvious reasons.
I feel that without an artists vision you just have a camera, a frame and a picture or a blank canvas, brushes, paint and a painting. It is the artists vision and interpretation of a scene/environment/emotion/subject that enables the emotional story telling to take place and be told, thus creating the work/piece of art.
If you wish to purchase any of my work please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
